What Our Weather Does to Concrete
Most coated floors that fail around here fail because of water. The ground stays wet for much of the year, and a slab sitting on it draws that moisture up from underneath. Left alone, it pushes a coating off from below. That's why every floor we coat starts with a moisture-vapor barrier on the bare slab, whether it's a garage in Port Orchard or a basement in Seattle.
Outdoor concrete has its own problems: standing water, moss, and freeze-thaw on driveways and walkways. Patios, driveways, and paths get texture worked into the coating for grip, and a polyaspartic topcoat that holds its color through the summer sun.
